About the Role
Cyber Security Specialists develop systems offering safety and security from cyber-threats for business systems, networks, programs and even individual devices. They are dedicated to protecting the integrity of a business’s network and data.
A Cyber Security Specialist creates and enforces security policies, configures networks, identifies then neutralises various cyber-threats and vulnerabilities in both hardware and software.
Almost all industries are demanding cyber security professionals through a variety of specialised IT roles including such as, information security officer, security administrator, cyber security consultant, cyber security analyst, penetration tester and many more.
Key Industries for employment opportunities are extremely broad ranging from and not limited to: Professional, Scientific and Technical Services, Public Administration and Safety, Financial and Insurance Services, Education and Training, local state and federal governments, consultancies, defence, investment, telecommunication.
Salary Expectation: $75,000 – $120,000
Qualifications, Training, Licenses
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity or a related field.
Industry certifications (e.g. CISSP, CISM)
Knowledge & Capabilities
•Experience with security products including firewalls, URL filtering, email security, end point devices protection and virus protection.
•Implement user access controls and identify and access management systems.
•Systematically review network and application performance identifying any irregular activity.
•Carry out regular audits to ensure security practices are compliant and being able to set up a disaster recovery/business continuity plan.
•Deploy endpoint detection and prevention tools.
•Set up patch management systems to update applications automatically.
•Implement vulnerability management systems both on-premise and in the cloud and being able to educate employees in identifying suspicious activity.
•Understanding of Cyber Security market trends
•Strong communicator with the ability to manage all stakeholders.
